Join Team BFBS
We want you to help us climb our way to a mountain of cash for military charities, by joining forces for Operation Summit for the BFBS Big Salute.
Take part in a sponsored climb, wherever you are in the Forces world and ask all your friends and family to support you with donations.
And don’t worry if you haven’t got a handy mountain nearby, you can climb the nearest hill, climb the stairs in your school or office, climb on the cross-trainer in the gym, or even just use a step. All climbers are welcome on Op Summit, just set yourself a challenge that will impress everyone you know into donating.
Big Salute Day is on Thursday the 8th of October 2026 and you can complete your challenge any time between now and Big Salute Day. Once you’ve done it, send The Big Salute the money you’ve raised and help us build a mountain of cash by the end of the day.
BFBS teams around the world will also be doing their own climbs and we’ll hear from all of them across the day on BFBS Radio. Let us know what you’re planning so your local team can tell your story.

A climb with a difference
Our Esports team shall be putting teamwork to the ultimate test as they take part in a virtual climb on the game Peak.
In the game you work as a team to climb a virtual mountain, through treacherous biomes and obstacles designed to stop you. You will be able to donate as well as help or hinder their journey.
You can check out the challenge on either on YouTube or Twitch.

Conquering Mount Olympus with a twist
On Thursday 8th October BFBS Cyprus will be attempting to walk from sea level to the top of Mount Olympus but here's the twist, they're doing it all within the confines of the BFBS stairs leading up to the front door!
The challenge will begin at 8am outside the BFBS office at RAF Akrotiri and anyone wishing to participate should wear comfortable shoes, keep hydrated, take it slowly (it's a marathon not a sprint) and wear suncream and/or hat.
