At sea

Wherever you are around the world, we do our best to get you a great selection of entertainment, accessible in a way that suits you!

For specific information about how BFBS can help in your situation, contact our UK helpdesk on 0044 (0)203 750 4567 or email us at [email protected].

All Royal Navy and Royal Fleet Auxillary ships have BFBS Radio and TV services delivered. Entertainment is delivered by different means depending on the ship and its location. We understand the extra difficulties of delivering to ships and work hard to ensure the best possible service is available. We even provide services to RN personnel deployed on HM Border Force vessels.

HM Ships

TV and radio are available via the TVs in communal areas such as messes and ward rooms and in some cabins (varies by ship type).

Virtually all wifi equipped ships have the MiPlayer fitted meaning that you can access all our content as well as magazines such as Navy News via wifi on your personal electronic devices (PEDs) without using the internet. This system also provides you with the opportunity to use your PEDs to catch up on programmes you missed or want to watch again.

For submarines we provide content via our DVD service.

The DVD service is a specially compiled broad mix of the past seven days across BFBS TV, a snapshot of our output for those in locations not served by our satellite TV platform. A set of DVDs is dispatched weekly via BFPO - contact [email protected].

Watch new blockbusters or your favourite movies with BFBS.

All naval vessels can subscribe to our Cinelink platform. Contact [email protected] to find out more about getting Cinelink for your vessel.

Need technical help?

Sometimes due the the track of a ship the signal is blocked by the ship's superstructure (this is called wooding) but service will return once course is changed. Meantime any content on the MiPlayer (except live services) will remain available.

Infrequently ships may visit areas where we do not have satellite coverage (the Pacific being the main example). We can still make arrangements to provide content - please engage via your welfare command and our Servicedesk (details below).

The maintenance of the systems used to deliver BFBS content on ships is carried out under the Maritime Multi Media (MMM) contract and not by BFBS.

If you experience any problems accessing our services on board ships contact your WEO/Maintainer in the first instance and if necessary they will report the problem to the STS Defence Helpdesk for resolution.
