Army LGBT+ Network Conference 2022

Join the Army LGBT+ Network on the 16th of February for their virtual Conference on Leadership and Authenticity. The conference will be held on MS Teams between 0930 - 1530 UKT!

This year’s conference aims to share best practices, tackle ongoing diversity, inclusion issues and connect with other individuals.

Cyber Confidence: Communication Methods

The MOD’s Cyber Confident in Defence team is focussing on Communication Methods and has shared a few vital tips to be more vigilant online - after all, the cyber front line is you.

The Big Salute 2022

Each year the BFBS Big Salute invites forces charities to apply for grants to support specific projects for the serving military, families or veterans.

Following last year’s application process, the BFBS Big Salute committee has awarded grants to five charities.

HRH The Duchess of Cornwall becomes BFBS Patron

We are delighted to welcome Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cornwall as Patron of BFBS – and are looking forward to introducing HRH to the fantastic welfare and entertainment services we offer the armed forces, their families and veterans.

Pension Taxation Seminars for the Armed Forces

The MOD has secured seminars and 1-to-1 sessions for Armed Forces personnel who received a Pension Savings Statement this year. These events will run from 10 Jan 22 until Feb 22.

The seminars will provide an overview, assistance and more!

MOD Education Support Fund

The MOD Education Support Fund (ESF) is open to publicly funded schools, Academies and Free schools in the UK attended by Service children whose parents are subject to frequent mobility/deployment. 

In total, 69 applicants secured funding which will directly benefit approximately 16,500 Service children across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The Future Accommodation Model Pilot (Update)

The Ministry of Defence is exploring how it can provide armed forces personnel with more choice of housing and meet their aspirations for home ownership

Through the Future Accommodation Model (FAM) pilot there is an accommodation offer that gives Service personnel more flexibility and choice over where, how and with whom they live.

Headspace licences for Army Service Personnel

The Army has partnered with Headspace to provide FREE Headspace licences for all Army SP, usually £49.99/ year.

Headspace is a personal guide, with hundreds of meditations and exercises for sleep, focus, and movement.

The McCloud Consultation is Coming

The MOD is undertaking a public consultation which details the changes that will be made to the Armed Forces Pension Scheme regulations and the effect on members.

The consultation will explain the impact of the draft regulations, including the closing of the legacy pension schemes and is expected to run for eight weeks.

Trial FM services at Dover and Bovington

BFBS Radio is now available in Bovington and Dover on FM for a trial 12-month period until September 2022 - you can listen in Dover on 90.8 FM and in Bovington on 100.8 FM.
