FAQs
This service is primarily aimed at mobile devices and laptops.
It does not require the installation of an app. Instead it just uses your browser eg Safari or Chrome.
MiPlayer works with modern Apple iOS devices.
Android version 4.3 is required as a minimum (and we advise using the Chrome browser).
Note: There is a large variation between device manufacturers and versions of Android, so it is not possible to test every possibility.
MiPlayer also works with a BFBS MiPlayer set top box for use with televisions.

This may be because there has been a disruption in the satellite reception, especially if you are at sea. If you are watching in full-screen mode, please exit full-screen mode and refresh the page, then press Play.
This may be caused by disruptions in the satellite reception during the recording. You may find that skipping further on in the programme resolves the issue.
The service uses Wi-Fi to distribute the MiPlayer, so wherever you can access the Wi-Fi network that MiPlayer is on, you can access MiPlayer.
This may be caused by previous periods of no or poor satellite reception. The system will make best efforts to join together and make available the parts that were received.
As a guide to how complete a programme is, there is an approximate percentage shown after the description.
For Catchup content, this just means that extra content has been recorded as a buffer before the expected start of the programme.
Playback will automatically try to go closer to the expected start time to minimise having to locate the actual start of the programme, but if a programme started earlier you can scrub backwards by up to five minutes.
The BBC World Service and Talk Sport channels are not carried by BFBS on all of the satellites we use. As ships move between satellite footprints, the radio services available will therefore vary. On land, the stations will remain constant.
Typically five minutes, to allow for a programme overrunning.
This may be because the received satellite changed. Because each satellite covers a different geographic region, the programmes are transmitted to suit the corresponding time zones. Different programmes are therefore transmitted at the same time on the different satellites.
