BFBS Receives Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Award

BFBS’s commitment to the armed forces community has been recognised under the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS).

Ben Chapman CEO, BFBS, said: “As a military charity and media organisation our support and commitment to the whole armed forces community is at the heart of what we do, so we’re delighted to be recognised for our work with this Gold Award.

“Alongside our mission to entertain, inform, connect, and champion the UK armed forces, their families, and veterans, BFBS also provides opportunities of employment and training for those in the military community. And as a signatory of the Covenant, BFBS appreciates the importance of this awards scheme.”

To apply for a Gold Award, BFBS had to meet certain criteria, including the provision of 10 extra paid days leave for reservists, and HR policies for reservists, veterans, and partners of those who serve.

BFBS also advocates the benefits of supporting the community, by encouraging other organisations to sign the Armed Forces Covenant and engage with the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme.

This year, other organisations recognised for this award include Marks & Spencer Plc, Motorola Solutions UK Ltd, Hilton and Toyota Manufacturing UK.
