It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our much-loved colleague, Simon Marlow.
Simon worked for many of our BFBS stations worldwide as a radio presenter, producer, and manager, and most recently led our team in BFBS Northern Ireland as Station Manager.
Ben Chapman, BFBS CEO, said: “Simon was always a bright force of nature in any setting, understanding the power of good relationships, making entertaining content every day whilst always going the extra mile to improve the lives of the audience he served, especially when he was living in military communities.
“And wherever Simon was, whoever he was with, there was always laughter. He made a difference.”
A proud Liverpudlian, Simon’s radio career began in 1986, and he went on to become a well-established presenter in UK commercial radio at stations such as Radio City in Liverpool, 2-TEN in Reading, Chiltern Radio in Dunstable, and Classic FM in London.
Simon brought creativity to BFBS as both a producer and on air as a presenter in postings which took him to Afghanistan, Cyprus, Brunei, Germany, the Falklands, and Northern Ireland.
Ben Chapman continued: “He will be held in the hearts of all at BFBS at such a tragic time. He's gone much too soon.”
