Inquest Final Day - Dur 1.55 09/03/2010
A coroner has today slammed the training of troops in detecting roadside bombs, before they're sent to fight in Afghanistan. David Masters is also to demand a review of the use of Snatch Land Rovers in War Zones. It follows his verdict that four British Soldiers, who died when their Snatch Land Rover detonated a Land Mine, were killed "unlawfully while on active service".

The Ministry of Defence has released footage showing a firefight between British and Afghan troops and insurgents on the ground taken during Operation Moshtarak. The soldiers were working out of a new patrol base.

Al Sweady Preliminary Hearing - Dur 1.47 09/03/2010
Claims that British soldiers tortured and murdered up to twenty Iraqi prisoners in May 2004, will be scrutinised in detail at a public inquiry. Defence Secretary Bob Ainsworth announced the Al Sweady Inquiry last November. The preliminary hearing took place today, ahead of what will be months of detailed investigations.

Battle of the Bulge - Dur 1.56 09/03/2010
There are fears for the future of a Belgian Army base that was once at the centre of a battle sometimes described as a key turning point in the Second World War. The Battle of the Bulge in the Ardennes hills over the winter of 1944-45 involved a powerful German offensive and at one point American forces were encircled in the town of Bastogne. Now the barracks where the US headquarters has been preserved in its original state could close next year causing deep concern among veterans and historians.
