It's being reported today that David Cameron is to set up a Cabinet committee to look after the welfare of British servicemen and women.

The Prime Minister is said to be planning to personally oversee the first meeting of the Armed Forces and Veterans Committee, comprising ministers from across Government departments linked to the forces.

According to today's Sun newspaper, the committee will look after all aspects of service personnel welfare, including medical care, housing and jobs.

The news comes ahead of the Sun Military Awards tonight, which celebrate the achievements of the armed forces and those who support them, and will be attended by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry.
