RAF helicopter in missing aircraft search

An RAF rescue helicopter from Lossiemouth has been involved in a search for a microlight or small aircraft that may have plunged into the sea near Montrose in Angus.

A member of the public and crew on a fishing vessel alerted the coastguard yesterday afternoon.

There was no trace and the search was suspended but emergency services are considering whether or not to resume the search today.
