There are growing concerns about radiation emitted from 2nd World War aircraft, buried under a beach in Scotland.

Experts say without urgent action, Dalgety Bay in Fife could be designated Britain's first stretch of contaminated radioactive land.

Former Prime Minister Gordon Brown, who is the MP for Kirkcaldy and Cowdenbeath, has called for action from the Ministry of Defence to tackle the problem.

It is thought the contamination - first detected in 1990 - comes from residue of radium-coated instrument panels used on military aircraft, which were incinerated and land-filled in the area at the end of the Second World War.

Last month, a lump of contaminated metal was found on the beach. It was 10 times more contaminated than any found before at the spot.
