Who's Who

Josella Waldron

News Editor and Duty Editor (Radio) | UK  Josella Waldron

JOSELLA'S PROFILE

Josella joined BFBS Radio in 2000 as a news producer. Her job included a bit of news reading, a bit of reporting, a bit of everything really!

She joined BFBS from FOX FM in Oxford where she was a reporter.

She trained at the University of Central Lancashire in Preston where she gained a Post Graduate Diploma in Broadcast Journalism.

The most memorable moment in Josella's career so far was when she and Adam Gilchrist went to Madrid to interview David Beckham, for the BFBS Review of the Year "04". It could only be broadcast after some ridiculous girly giggles were edited out. (Adam really does laugh like a girl.)

Josella is married to Enda and has two children, Saoirse and Donncha.

Josella Writes:

"I work as a Radio News Editor which means I'm responsible for the hourly news bulletins and Newsplus.

I'm very proud to work for the broadcaster that serves the British Forces. When we put our radio news together we think long and hard about which stories we put in and how they relate to our audience around the world. If we think something doesn't relate to them or it's just plain boring it gets ditched.

So far my work at BFBS has included, reporting from a major British and American Naval exercise off the North Carolina coast, (which included a slightly alarming moment involving me, my recording equipment and a very fast moving boat full of Royal Marines - I didn't actually fall in to the Atlantic in the dark of night but came pretty close! ) and swearing along with Ozzy Osbourne in his own house - all bleeped out for the radio of course!

But the best bit has always been working on live radio - whether it's reading bulletins or producing a live five hour election show, it's so much fun I can't believe it's actually work!

If I had more spare time, I'd spend a lot more time shopping, seeing live music, indulging in regular manicures and trips to the Spa! Usually though, I'm content with Coronation Street, Desperate Housewives (because I AM a bit desperate) and Kettle Chips! I'm also very proud to be a Tottenham Hotspur supporter!"
