FIONA'S PROFILE

Born and bred in Belfast during the troubles, the “ministers daughter” decided enough was enough when she finished school and opted for Uni in Edinburgh.

But once she’s gained her degree, instead of doing anything constructive with her three years of learning, Fiona found herself as an Army Wife in Hohne Garrison where she worked for Training and Qualifications Germany.

A seven year career gap saw Fiona fill her time with her three children before moving to Osnabruck in 2000, where a chance glance through the job section in Sixth Sense led to her appointment as the local BFBS Garrison reporter and as they say, the rest is history.

Eight moves and nine army quarters later, a posting to Northern Ireland saw Fiona heading back to her roots where she joined the BFBS team in Lisburn as a volunteer.

Seven years on, Fiona's experience as a both a presenter and reporter has seen her interview Prince Edward and Jeremy Clarkson but to name a few.

Having cut her presenter teeth on the NI Morning Show, she moved onto Seven Days, and once it was absorbed into Access All Areas in April 2009, she spent a very busy summer with the families of 19 Light Brigade during Herrick 10.

Now it’s all change for the Ulster Mother of three. She’s joined the British Forces News team…and after notching up some camera training- can now be seen and heard on BFBS in her new Video Journalist role.

Fiona says the phrase “variety is the spice of life,” certainly sums up her nine years at BFBS and here’s to many many more!
