DAVID'S PROFILE
David Spencer's radio career began when he was 13 - presenting on WCLR.
Waybrook Crescent Local Radio had a band of 5 loyal listeners - as David composed charts and compilations for friends and family, mixed with the ramblings of a teenager radio wannabe.
After leaving school David's first job saw him working for the military equipment specialist Racal Mobilcal before he decided to pursue his dream at Hospital Radio Wexham in 1990. There he won Personality of the Year for some bizarre reason before he was quickly snapped up by new radio station STAR FM in nearby Slough.
David was soon presenting the Evening Show and the flagship News Star Six hour-long programme, before being appointed News Editor.
David then joined FOX FM. where he presented the Sony Award winning Fox Report, as well as the station’s 1997 Election Special, fronting the coverage of Tony Blair’s historic election win.
David then decided to increase his understanding of the corporate market by becoming Director of Infosentials, a global communications firm working on audio programmes for specialist industries, like accountancy, tax and small business.
David has worked with the likes of Nationwide, Rio Tinto, The Conservative Party (2005 Election Radio Broadcast) and has even produced a Pilates CD.
Spencer Media was then started in 2001 as David worked self-employed across the radio and TV industry. Since then David’s work has included presenting shows on Classic Gold and 96.4 The Eagle as well as operating in newsrooms at the likes of 2-Ten, BBC Radio Berkshire, Smooth Radio and of course BFBS.
Much of his work in the last decade has been at Sky News, where David has worked as a freelance Editor for the Sky News Radio network, which supplies news to all commercial radio stations in the UK. He also works on the Sky News Active service and on Sky Text.
Out of work - David is a huge music fan and you can read some of his reviews at the Daily Music Guide. He is also a loyal supporter of his home town football club Reading, having followed them home and away since 1978.
His favourite TV programme ever is Miami Vice, his favourite film is Aliens, the best album ever recorded he says is The Wall by Pink Floyd, while his radio hero is Peter Powell.
