Reporter (Germany) | Germany  Annie Haresign

ANNIE'S PROFILE

Annie is our most Northerly Reporter based in Germany and has reported with 7th Armoured Brigade for more than 15 years. She's reported from all over the world and has regularly reported from Operational areas such as Bosnia, Kosovo and Iraq. In fact Annie was BFBS’s first Embedded War Correspondent during the Iraq invasion in 2003.

Annie hails from Scotland and hoped to start her working life in fashion design and marketing! It was while studying for her degrees she cultivated her love for music, DJing and event management. A holiday to Germany to visit friends in the Forces proved to be the turning point and after a short stint of designing dresses, Annie applied for the job of reporter at BFBS Hohne. The rest, as they say, is history!

When Annie isn’t reporting, filming or editing her own stories, she can always be found at the stables....wellingtons on....knee-high in muck! It’s no secret to anyone in Hohne Garrison that Annie’s real passion is for horses. The majority of her six ponies are rescue animals and after a number of years of retraining, they now have a useful life playing and teaching polo. Even her two Shetlands, Teddy and Tallulah help teach Forces children how to ride, play polo and gymkhana games. Annie worked towards gaining recognition as a polo coach and helps keep the sport alive in British Forces Germany. Every year she teaches at the International Polo Youth Camp in Berlin where her language skills are certainly put to the test.

So it’s no surprise to hear that when there’s a story involving animals, Annie is always the first to volunteer!!
