40 Regiment Royal Artillery, The Lowland Gunners, have bade farewell to their guns at Thiepval Barracks in Northern Ireland .

The Regiment goes into suspended animation as a result of SDSR at the end of September next year, although the four Batteries that make up the Regiment will now be deployed within other Artillery units.

The unit is part of 19 Light Brigade and has only been in Northern Ireland since September 2008.

The soldiers lined the route as the guns were piped out of camp.
