HMS Daring - the Royal Navy's newest ship - called into Gibraltar en route to her first operation deployment in the Gulf.
During the visit her Commanding Officer Captain Guy Robinson hosted a lunch attended by the Governor, as well as visits from local schools, the Sea Scouts and the RG Association.
The destroyer will spend seven months east of Suez, safeguarding sea lanes and working with the UK's allies in the region.
She is the first of six Type 45 destroyers and will take over from HMS Argyll on what is a long-planned routine deployment.
