As part of an ongoing effort to minimise the cost of the military presence on the rock, some services in Gibraltar, currently run by the MoD have been transferred to the Gibraltar Government.

A and E services, primary education, power and laundry services are amongst services that have been transferred. The shift of responsibility is designed to make the military presence there more affordable as the cost of UK military operations worldwide continues to come under scrutiny, ahead of the Strategic Defence Review.

Commodore Adrian Bell speaks to British Forces News about the changes.
