Volcanic ash from the eruption in Chile is continuing to disrupt the airbridge to and from the Falkland Islands.
It is understood that the ash cloud continues to present a threat to aircraft flying over the South Atlantic. Although it has moved away from the islands, there is a possibility it could return over the next few days.
Decisions about which aircraft can land at Mount Pleasant Complex are being made on a case by case basis. Flying operations will be dependent on the latest advice from the Met Office with the situation remaining under constant review.
HQ BFSAI and the UK are said to be working together to ensure that the airbridge will return to normal as quickly as possible and the backlog will be resolved with minimal impact to operations and passengers.
A number of alternative options to minimise inconvenience to passengers is being considered should restrictions continue for the longer term.
