Servicemen past and present have received military honours at Buckingham Palace.

Private Bryan Johnson, 24, from the Royal Regiment of Scotland saved a fellow soldier while under intense in the midst of a Taliban ambush – dragging him to safety.

His courageous actions came after just 11 months service and has been awarded the Military Cross.

Captain Iain Curran, who is 28, has received the Military Cross.

He charged an enemy ambush twice, while under heavy insurgent fire, to help recover a fallen soldiers body.

And Labour MP Dan Jarvis (see more detail in separate story) has been awarded an MBE – the first serving politician to receive a military honour in over 60 years. He is being recognised for his work developing training which taught troops to spot IED’s.
