An RAF pilot is awaiting sentencing for his part in a helicopter crash that killed three people in North Yorkshire in 2007.

Last month, Flight Lieutenant Robert Hamilton admitted negligence during a low flying manoeuvre as he co-piloted the Puma with twelve servicemen on board.

Nine people survived, but the crash killed the pilot Flight Lieutenant David Sale, along with Sargent Philip Burfoot, and Private Sean Tate - a 17 year old army recruit.

In 2009 a coroner branded low flying by the crew “dangerous stunts”.

Hamilton was heard on a cockpit recording laughing and joking as automated warnings were given

He has already left the RAF.
