Nimrod cuts leave rescue missions all at sea

Union leaders have told British Forces News ditching the Nimrod spy plane project will put lives at risk because of its impact on rescue missions to ships outside helicopter range.

The scrapping of Nimrod comes at the same time as uncertainty about other key elements of the UK’s search and rescue capability.
