Two fierce rivals are preparing to meet as the Army take on the Navy in the Inter Services Rugby League Championship.

The Army who haven't won the title in eight years will be looking to get their campaign off to a winning start.

The Inter Services Rugby league Championship started in Aldershot earlier today with the old warhorses from the Army and the Navy veteran sides going head to head.

But the key game for the Army will be tonight’s senior fixture when they’ll be looking to get their campaign off to winning start against their old foes.

The Army haven’t been crowned forces champions for 8 years despite recording a victory over the Air Force in the opening game of the competition 12 months ago.

They could have won the title last year but it slipped from their grasp as the Navy inflicted a narrow one-point defeat in Portsmouth and condemned the men in red to another year of hurt.

Many of the old guard have retired from first team action. The Army will blood 8 new caps in tonight’s fixture.
