An infantry soldier has made it to the final line-up of this year’s X-Factor contestants.

Private Jonjo Kerr, of the 3rd Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment, initially appeared to have scuppered his chances, by messing up his first audition.

After redeeming himself, he has progressed through boot camp, and has been selected by Louis Walsh to join the over 25s category.

Private Kerr’s Corunna Company is due to deploy to Afghanistan in the New Year - the 28 year old says all the lads are behind him as he flies the army flag on the talent show.
