Troops in Cyprus prepare for deployment

Troops based in Cyprus have been training in preparation for deployment on 48 hours notice.

The 2nd Battalion, The Yorkshire Regiment been put through an operational readiness assessment where members play the role of insurgents, locals, Afghan National Army and the Afghan Police.

Throughout the week 84 Squadron has been in support and with the Deputy Commander of British Forces Cyprus, Brigadier Bill Kingdon.

Overseeing the exercise, both Lance Corporal Jordan Greathead and Corporal Paul Saye feel confident that they are operationally ready.
