Three months ago Dhekelia Power Station had to take the strain when Cyprus experienced its worst peacetime military accident.

A field full of seized munitions containers exploded at a naval base just down the coast from the facility, killing 13 people and knocking out the island’s main power station causing widespread power cuts.

Initial assessments said the repair job would cost millions in time and money, but now repairs are well underway.
