Prince William has spoken of being at the "crucible" of Canadian nationhood as he and his wife Kate visit the province of Prince Edward Island.
The Island is known as the home of Anne of Green Gables, a fictional character said to be a favourite of the duchess.
Premier Robert Ghiz, welcomed the duke and duchess in Charlottetown.
The Premier announced the launch of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge Legacy Fund.
Prince William responded as he has throughout the tour, in French as well as English.
Meanwhile the Duke of Cambridge has taken part in a search and rescue procedure known as a water bird operation.
He took control of a Canadian coastguard Sea King helicopter at Prince Edward Island and landed it in a lake. It was to highlight the important role Canada plays in training search and rescue pilots.
