BATUS Adventure Training

1 January 1970 | Canada

Every year thousands of British soldiers train hard on the prairies of Alberta for operations. Often they live out in the open for extended periods. The Med Man exercises have been going on here in Suffield for nearly 40 years.

As well as the important R & R trips into nearby Medicine Hat nearly half of the soldiers get the chance to do some Adventure training in the Rocky Mountains - a mere three hours drive away. More than three thousand people use the centre every year.

The man who runs the AT centre – Trails End Camp, is Major Sulle Al-Haji – the soldier who says he has the best job in the British Army.

BFBS Reporter, Rory Higgins went up to the Rockies to meet him.
