UK and Pakistan support reconciliation

The Foreign Secretary and his Pakistani counterpart have jointly declared their support for reconciliation in Afghanistan.

On her first official visit to Britain, Hina Rabbani Khar, told a press conference that her country and the UK "more than share the same objectives" where the security and protection of Pakistan's interests are concerned.

William Hague also told journalists at the Foreign Office that he was behind efforts at negotiation with the Taliban.
