A Company 1 RIFLES have returned from their seven-month tour of Afghanistan.
The 100 soldiers were welcomed home by friends and family at Beachley Barracks in Chepstow.
The Riflemen were based in Nahr-e Saraj in the south of the country.
A Company lost five men on the tour: CSjt Kevin Fortuna, Rfn Martin Lamb, Cpl Mark Palin, Lt Daniel Clack and LCpl Jonathan McKinlay.
A lantern kept alight at Beachley Barracks for the duration of the tour was extinguished last night in a low key ceremony to mark the Battalion’s return.
