US marines and Afghan forces have built on the achievements of British troops in Musa Qala in the north of Helmand by pushing out the security bubble further.

In the district centre itself - the scene of fierce fighting when the British were there - the situation has also changed dramatically.

It is now peaceful enough to allow development projects to start, including a school for girls that has opened its doors for the first time in more than 20 years.
