French military medics have saved the life of a ten-year-old Afghan girl who was shot in the head following a battle with the Taliban.
The incident happened at her home in Tagab, in Kapisa Province, north of Kabul whilst she was playing.

Although no French were involved in the attack, a crew evacuated the little girl and took her to a French run ISAF hospital.

A week after surgery, she is recovering well, her eyesight has been lost in the left eye but doctors say that this could be regained over the coming months.
