French forces to resume training Afghans

The French President Nicholas Sarkozy has agreed to allow his forces to resume training Afghan soldiers.

The operations were halted after a rogue Afghan Army serviceman fired on French troops earlier this month, killing four and injuring more than a dozen.

Following a meeting with the Afghan President Hamid Karzai in Paris, President Sarkozy has also confirmed his original plan to complete a withdrawal of French forces by the end of next year.
