The Queen laid a wreath at London’s Cenotaph yesterday to lead the nation's Remembrance Sunday tributes in honour of Britain’s war dead.

Prince William, dressed in his airforce uniform, also laid a wreath as he prepares for his tour in the Falklands with the RAF Search and Rescue service.

Veterans of all ages marched past the Cenotaph and came to pay their own personal tributes to fallen comrades.

Forces personnel around the world paid their respects too.

In Afghanistan Hundreds of British service personnel took part in a Remembrance Day parade at Lashkar Gah, while in Cyprus around 1500 people attended a service at Happy Valley, drawn mainly from HQ British Forces Cyprus.

Over 600 people gathered at Harewood Barracks in Germany to salute the fallen.
