Members of the Armed Forces in Afghanistan could be fined £100 if they fail to submit their tax returns on time.

The fine will be levied even if the individual doesn’t owe any tax.

The tax office has refused to extend the 31st January deadline for Forces abroad.

Many troops serving in Afghanistan could miss the date.
