Specialist Female Engagement Teams have been deploying with infantry battlegroups in Afghanistan, to help win the battle of hearts and minds.

Male soldiers have faced difficulty over the years speaking to Afghan women, because the culture prevents them from meeting.

However, the specialist teams have had great success in building up what is known as the “white picture”; to see how civilian society works in Afghanistan.

Forces News reporter Charlotte Cross has been on patrol with D Company 5 RIFLES in central Helmand, to see one member of the female engagement team in action.
