7 killed in blast outside NATO base

At least 7 civilians have been killed in a suicide bomb attack at the entrance to a NATO base in southern Afghanistan.

It was the second suicide bombing in as many days in the area, which is the birthplace of the Taliban insurgency.

More than 20 have died as a result.

The bomber "arrived on foot and tried to get near the gate of Kandahar Air Field and then he blew himself up," said a police official.

Other civilians were wounded.
